the rocking chair

Let me tell you a story.

My friends and I, we're in a bike club.

 A mighty fine bike club.

 

One day we biked to the D.I.

And at the D.I. we found a rocking chair.

A rocking chair we HAD to have.

Only trouble was getting this rocking chair back home.

Because in case you forgot, the bike club biked to D.I. that afternoon.

At this point we had a few options.

Staci & I could each grab an arm and bike side by side...

But we couldn't even get out of the parking lot that way.

Biking one handed and going the same pace as someone is much more difficult than we ever imagined.

So I volunteered myself to make this a solo project...

I tried placing the rocking chair around my body several ways.

All of which were incredibly uncomfortable.

And then there was the issue of keeping the bike functional.

Nobody wants a rocking chair leg jamming up the back tire while riding down the street.

Finally we found the ideal positioning.

How admirable of Devan to assist me in the process.

And finally we were on our way...

Are you wondering if my vision was impaired?

Yes, it was.

Are you wondering if I could pedal without ramming my knee into the rocking chair?

No, I couldn't.

Really though this was a moment to be grateful.

Grateful for a new rocking chair.

Grateful for friends guiding me around bumps and potholes.

Grateful for Laura Corry taking pictures from her own moving bicycle, another dangerous task.

Grateful the whole ride was downhill.

Grateful for every passerby staring at me as if I were a champion.

Incredibly grateful.

Now this tale comes to an end. I had done it.

Completed the journey with the rocking chair in perfect condition.
