The Great Salt Lake

July 8, 2012 I accomplished a task that has been on my summer bucket list since 2006.

I took a dip in the Great Salt Lake

and GREAT it was!

Definitely a christening moment in me being a true Utahn. 

I loved all the bugs on the water and the brine shrimp swimming around me and the seagulls flying above my head.

Oh it was a beautiful event.

We swam in the lake for 3 hours.

All the way out to an island in the distance and back.

I wish I had documented the island and how distant it was, but I was busy swimming.

We did however document our pre-swim picnic.

 And here we are just before we began our journey into the water.

This one is from a few days earlier, when we created the idea of fulfilling my life-long dream. 

Although as we swam on the 8th of July, the sun did set. 

The sunset over the Great Salt Lake is one of my new favorite things to watch. I've seen it so many times this summer and I still almost get in a car crash every time I drive by and stare out my window at it.

Utah is beautiful.
