Hello Hello!!

Get the map out because I am in a new city!! It's called Pombal. It is in the state Paraiba and close to the city of Souza. It is only a couple hours away from Caicó, but across the border in a different state. I think I am meant to serve in super small, super hot, super humble cities. It is good here so far, I am excited to be in a new place. My new companion is Sister Salazar. She is American and from Sacramento, California. It is fun to be with an American. There is one branch in the city with about 70 members and we serve here with another companionship of elders. They are both American too so our district is a little American gang. The elders are both from Washington I think.

This week was crazy with all the changes. Sunday night at 2 a.m. we left Caicó for a mission conference with everyone in João Pessoa. Elder Christensen and Elder Mazzagardi of the Seventy spoke and Pres. and Sis. Hall. It was SUPER good. My favorite thing that I can remember right now because I was talking about it with my comp. this morning during study is when Elder Christensen explained that we can recognize when our thoughts are from the Holy Ghost because they will be confirmed with a feeling in our heart. Sister Salazar teaches really well with the Spirit. I am super excited to learn from her how to recognize the needs of our investigators and teach more specifically to the individual people. This transfer is going to be good. It is only 4 weeks though! She is almost finishing her mission though so I might stay here with her until she finishes her mission in April. Anyways, after the conference I got my suitcases and headed to Pombal. There is a senior couple who is serving in Souza so 4 of us sisters in this zone rode in the car with them. It wasn't super comfortable, but better than the bus or van. We also stopped at Subway for lunch. YES SUBWAY! I was in heaven. I felt like I was in America again. I have been secluded in rural nothingness for a long time, it was such a great lunch. Now I am in rural nothingness again, but it is good here. We have some really great families that my comp. and her previous comp. were teaching and this area baptizes a lot more than Caicó so it will be good to help people who actually have a desire to accept the gospel.

The following pictures I attached are the fruit salad Sister Matos and I made, super delicious. And a coconut man in Caicó that I always walked by and finally took a picture, AND me eating some delicious fried chicken things we made with one of our investigators.

At the conference they said that Brazil would be opening up new missions, but I don't know where. Maybe our mission will be divided between the two states!! Who knows?! Our mission president will change in July and we are going to have a lot more sisters in the mission then.

They didn't bring the keyboard back again... I wasn't too sad. Haha. The church here has a piano though. The church building is about the same quality as Caicó, but a little bigger. Definitely not a chapel, just a building that used to be a market. Good thing the Spirit is the same even in low quality buildings.

The only video we use here is the 20 minute Restoration that we watch with investigators sometimes. We don't have fancy technology here like computers or DVD's to watch videos.

I think that Pombal is a little bit cooler than Caicó, thank heavens. It is still hot though, but it rained the first day I was here so everyone was super happy, but then the power went out in the city for the whole next day because of the storm. I haven't even used the fan at night because there is a cool breeze the comes in from the window. I think I just got used to sweating all the time so it has hardly been an adjustment to be here.

That's all for this week! Love you all! You're always in my prayers!

This is a photo with my 5 year old friend Joseph. And one of Sister Matos getting busted for using gum to stick the announcement to the wall in the church. She is a riot.

Two of my favorite families in Caicõ. The family of Bishop Eduardo and Lilia and the family of José Carols and Alexsandra.
