Happy Easter for you as well! There was a
lot of hype in Pombal for "Semana Santa."(Holy Week) I was trying to remember the
names of all of the days in English because they are different in
Portuguese. It was pretty uneventful for us. The Catholic church was jam
packed with all the people who only go twice a year, but we had a bunch
of people at church too. We had a baptism that was super special.
Originally we scheduled it for the 7 of April,
but we felt to move it up and I am so grateful we did because they were
ready. It was a mother and her son who is 23. He had a really bad
drinking problem, but now he has a desire to live a different life. After
the first day we met him he said he wanted to change his life and he
didn't drink a single time after that. Such good people Jucelino and
Luciene. We really were blessed with baptisms and amazing people to
teach this transfer. Our mission baptized 225 this month, the highest
amount of all the months President Hall has had. The push for raising
goals really worked out. It was an incredible month. The Lord really
comes through on his part when we do ours.
Now I am leaving Pombal, I am super sad, but I know
that there are going to be people waiting for me in my new area. Sister
Alves is training a new missionary!!! I will miss her so much. Seriously
the best transfer ever with her, she was SUCH a perfect companion. I
laughed so hard with her every single day and we saw lots of miracles.
Oh I was so blessed serving with her. Now I am going to Mossoró, the
hottest area in the mission, but it is winter so I will survive
hopefully. My new companion is Sister Ribeiro, I haven't met her yet
because the transfer is a huge mess. I have only served in the hot
interior cities, but it is fine. I have hope that one day I will serve
close to the coast. Yesterday I spent the day working with the sisters
in Sousa, but they were transferred to Natal and left this morning
so right now I am spending the day with the LZ's Elder Bandeira and
Elder Orr (he went to Skyline) and the new companionship of sisters will
get here tonight and I will sleep in their apartment and tomorrow
morning at 5 a.m. I will go to Mossoró to meet my new companion. I am
excited because I will live with another companionship of sisters too.
One of which is Sister Johnson who I know and love and the other is the
missionary she is training who I haven't met yet. It is super stressful
traveling, but it will all work out.
This is the only picture I could get the computer to send you. It is of the zone
conference we had with Sousa and Mossoro this transfer. My old zone and
my new one. I am in the back next to Sis. Alves, best companion ever.
And my new comp. Sis. Ribeiro is the black girl in pink sitting down on
the left side.
Good to know everyone is doing well. I love you all.
Sister Udy
