Once again I didn't
leave myself a ton of time to write you, but whatever because I read
Emerson's e-mail this week and it was super short too. My new companion
doesn't talk. It is better to spend the day in silence than with someone
who talks too much though and I can tell she gives her best effort to
talk to people on the street so I'll just learn to deal with the quiet.
My new area has a nice breeze always and is cooler, but it is still hot
here. Definitely bearable though. Sister De Souza was here for the first
6 weeks. She barely knows the area and I can't blame her. It is HUGE.
By far the biggest area I have had. Seriously Natal (Natal means Christmas) is enormous. There
are 4 zones just in this city. Our area is one of the biggest in the
mission. Good thing I like to walk. There are lots of apartment
buildings and businesses though.
The ward is pretty well off. It is a huge change
from the sertão(interior). I really miss the humility of my other areas. The
lunches here are wonderful though. The ward had about 100 people there
Sunday but it was the fullest it has been for a while apparently.
Everyone was commenting that there were a lot of visitors. Seem to be
good people. We didn't have many investigators when I got here, but we
are trying to find people. Sunday a woman went to church and is
scheduled to be baptized next Sunday. She is super sweet, from the interior so she is super humble, more what I'm used to teaching. We had a baptism Sunday
though!! Her name is Rosa and apparently lots of missionaries have
taught her, but now was just the right timing that she wanted to be
baptized. Super good blessing! Gave me a good impression of the area.
I think I need to have more faith and then we will
see more miracles here. This area really needs it, everyone says it is a
pretty difficult area, but I think it has a lot of potential to baptize
here. I am going to study faith and then apply it and then baptize
amazing people. That's the plan here in my new area. I am tired of
disappointment so I am going to pray not to have any. My new district
has 6 people. Us and 2 duplas of elders.
One problem in this area that I am going to need to
find a solution soon is that the shower is FREEZING. Not room
temperature water, COLD water. I die, every night. Seriously I might
have to stop taking showers, but it is disgusting because I sweat all
day everyday and I am super dirty so I need to shower, but it is so
freaking cold.
Well, that's about it for the week. I'll try to write more next week. Love you. Bye.
