WAHOO! ARKANSAS!!
Is Chad
excited? I can't believe he will leave before I get home. I sort of
already knew that he would, but now it is for real. I'm super
excited for Chad. I don't know what the mission will be like there, but I
know that it will be perfect for him because he was called by a prophet
of God.
So the pictures this week are of my new zone.
Here is a cool street that was painted with a Brazil flag during the last world
cup and still is sort of there.
We saw this monkey on the way to church yesterday.
You asked about religions in Brazil and basically all of Brazil is 1. Catholic (some are practicing, but the
majority were just baptized as infants and never stepped foot in the
church again) 2. Evangelical (bible lovers, basically any protestant
sect, all pretty much the same in beliefs) 3. Atheist (usually just the
rebel adolescents, but super rare) or 4. LDS
As for the hot water, I could warm it up in a pan if
I really wanted, but it takes a ton more time and is more complicated
and I try to get to bed by 10:30 to be obedient, you know? So basically
I am just trying to stick it out. There are worse things than cold
showers... for example our toilet that we have to flush using a bucket
of water. I know, classy. We are in the process of looking for a new
house to live in, but everything is out of the price range or too small
or dumpy. Oh well. I am surviving.
Things are going alright in this new area, I am
getting used to the changes. People are more closed hearted, but I am
sure there are elects here. We just need to find them. We are trying to
help the ward get more excited about missionary work, they are pretty
stuck in a routine of letting the missionaries just do their thing and
helping when convenient. It will get better though, I have lots of hope.
And I am studying and praying for more faith. Seriously, one of the
best topics I have studied on my mission.
As for my companion... She still
doesn't talk much and we are pretty different, but we don't fight so
it's all good. Who knew I could feel lonely being with someone 24/7... I
just make conversation with people on the street to keep myself
entertained.
Love you tons!
Until next week!
Sister Udy
