So the mission here is hitting records
of how many converts are being baptized every week and my companion and I
are spending our Sundays crying because everything seems to go wrong
with our investigators. First of all we have very few investigators, but
the few that we have were so great all week, super interested,
fulfilling commitments, excited to go to church. Then comes Sunday
morning and we go by and they won't go because they can barely walk
their feet are hurting so badly from playing soccer at the church with
everyone on Saturday
night barefoot. Seriously I wanted to say to them "don't you think
Jesus feet were hurting when he was nailed to a cross for you?"
Whatever, can't force people to make the right decision. Next week they
will go. It was a really disappointing Sunday,
but we're looking forward to a much better week this week. I believe
that blessings are real and after the trials they come. Our other
investigator who is an alcoholic had a relapse this weekend and we
haven't seen him for a few days. Probably lucky for him because as soon
as we see him he'll have to get accountable and start repenting.
Anyways. My birthday was excellent this week. Even
God gave me birthday presents. Seriously, we scheduled 3 baptisms that
day. By the end of the week they all fell through or were re-scheduled
for a later date, but it still made for an excellent birthday present.
The elders had a party for me.
Then another member made dinner for me. Thursday
the ward surprised me with a cake after our meeting.
It was like the
birthday that never ended. I had cake almost everyday this week. And we
still have some left over in the fridge. Oh and my companion gave me
some really pretty earrings. She's great.
I bought myself some new
perfume and make-up. I'm looking for new sandals because mine are on
their last thread. It's an ongoing debate if they'll last until the end
or not. I don't want to switch because I already have tan lines for
these ones and I don't want to sunburn my feet by switching. We'll see
what I find. Maybe I'll just glue them together for the 5th time.
The
pictures I sent are of my birthday and of the activities we had with the
youth this weekend. The stake is having all the wards do a service
project and we did splits with the youth to gather food and clothing
items for some non-profit organization and get referrals. When the
people donate food we tell them as a thank you we want to bring a DVD
about Jesus to them and the majority accept. It's a good scheme. We'll
see if there are good results from it.
Well I think that's all. I feel like there is
something I was going to say that I am forgetting... but oh well. I'll
say it next week if I remember.
Love, Sister Laurel Udy
you look great!
