Hello!
So I sent an e-mail last week. I
don't know why you didn't get it. Hopefully you get this one too. I didn't know
the Internet was so unreliable. It's probably because of this lanhouse
we go to that has knock of windows on all the computers. Who knows.
The pictures are of first our fabulous international lunch. Sister Uribe
(from Chile) made tacos and guacamole. I made couscous with tomato,
sausage, and eggs. Also, acerola juice. It was a great meal.
Next is
last p day when everyone was dying hair and putting hydrating treatment
in. I just painted my nails.
And lastly, one with 6 missionaries is
of the division last week Sister Oliveira did with Sister Hunt. It was
so great to see my friend Sister Hunt again. She's one of my favorite
missionaries. Remember I lived with her in Mossoró? That feels like
forever ago. Time flies.
My companion had her 1 month mark yesterday. Super
crazy. I was still in the MTC for mine. Everything happens a lot faster
when you're speaking your own language. Chad will be in the mission
field way soon too. I'm excited to read his e-mails. For my birthday tomorrow
the elders said they will make a cake and bring it to district meeting.
I'm excited! I don't know if any of them really know how to make cake,
but it's the thought that counts even if the cake turns out bad. I know I
shouldn't but I feel so old. I'm turning 23!! My companion is 19! Feels
like yesterday
that I was 19 too. Oh well, life just keeps going I guess. Pretty soon
I'll be 53. Then 83. Then 103. At least my life is going well so far.
We're teaching an investigator named Jutson who is super great. He went to church yesterday
for the first time. He's basically our only progressing investigator so
we need to find more, but at least he's wanting to change his life.
He's an alcoholic and has had a lot of problems in the past because of
drugs and things, but recognizes how much his addiction has destroyed
his life. We taught a lesson on Saturday and he started to cry because
he feels so much remorse about the choices he's made. I've never been so
grateful for the opportunity to teach someone about baptism. It felt so
amazing to explain to him that he has the chance to be washed clean of
all his sins and start his life over. Yesterday
when we went to visit him after church his roommate said that he's
amazed at how much Jutson has changed in just the few days we have been
teaching him, that he hasn't drunk at all. I want so badly for this man
to succeed in changing his life. He said he loved church and that he
didn't know why but he started trembling when he drank the little cup of
water they passed around. Even people who don't understand the
sacrament feel the Spirit when they participate. I'm loving teaching
him. I want more investigators like this.
Also, pray for my companion because she is having
trouble sleeping at night and it makes it difficult because then she's
tired during the day. Thanks. Love you tons!
Sister Udy
