So I sent this e-mail last week... don't know why you didn't receive it...

Hello!

I'm sending a photo of our district meeting this week, we had a mini Halloween celebration afterwards. The elders in our district are super fun. We're all great friends. I'm the only American, with 2 Hispanics and the rest Brazilians. But I'm basically Brazilian now too.

The next picture is my lovely companion who decided to write on her forehead while we were planning one  night. She's so funny. Always doing crazy stuff out of the blue. It's so nice to have someone who keeps me laughing. (It says faith.)

The last photo is the 4 sisters in our ward with 2 members (Christiane and Isabel). I don't remember if I told you the other companionship that lives with us is Sister Oliveira (who lived with me in Mossoró so we're already good friends) and Sister Uribe (she is from Chile and super great). I am going to start practicing Spanish with her. I forgot basically everything though when I learned Portuguese.

I love the members here in this ward. Some more than others, but some that I seriously won't be able to say goodbye to. Every single week things happen that I think to myself "wow, I'll remember this for the rest of my life." Oh and also everyone thinks that because I'm at the end of my mission they should encourage me to find someone to marry. I'm not into it. They have good intentions, but I'm still a missionary you know. The only referrals I want are people to baptize. Our area has been challenging to find people to teach. Most of the people on the street are scared that we are going to mug them. Everyone is super untrusting. We're being blessed, but it is like every new investigator is a miracle. On the other side of the area there were tons of people on the street so at least there were people that were easy to talk to without having to use the intercom doorbell. We try to avoid knocking doors and find other creative ways to meet people, but it is pretty unavoidable in our area. This week we were knocking doors and asked for a cup of water then asked if we could enter to say a prayer of gratitude. It worked on a couple houses, but nobody wanted a return visit.

Our new apartment was exterminated for cockroaches and ants so now I'm liking it more. We're lacking some furniture still, but it's a good place to live. I'm pretty excited for my birthday, I've been announcing it to all the members so I'm sure someone will bake a cake for me. Plus the elders in our district are all about planning a party too because we have district meeting that day. It's going to be a good day I already know.

I'm excited for Chad to go to the MTC!!! I'm so proud of my little brothers. Emerson's e-mail this week was great. Adjusting to mission life without a car... oh the luxuries of serving in the states. I'd be happy just with a bike. But to tell the truth, on foot is perfect. I like to walk.

Love you all!
Sister Udy
