This week was full of
disappointments, but whatever. The only thing to do is hope the future
is better, right? We had some real intense lessons with some really
unbelieving people who didn't agree with things we had to teach. It's
fine though. I wasn't very happy until Sunday
when I went to church and then I remembered how grateful I am that I
feel I'm in the right place and that I am doing the right things with my
life trying my best to be like Christ. At least I feel peaceful. Sister
Cabral is super great too because we get a lot of laughs out of the
ridiculous experiences we have.
Every morning this week we heard
our neighbor practicing hymns on the violin so we went and knocked on
the door to try to make a contact. He was an evangelical who sells CD's
and goes around playing for people trying to share his gift that God
gave him. He explained to us how happy he felt that we were touched by
his music and had come to compliment him. Then he went to church with us
on Sunday.
Unfortunately he is homeless and the house he was staying at is actually
a support house that the Baptist church has, but he can only stay there
until today. He
will probably leave town if he can't sell enough of his CD's to rent a
place. Really nice guy, super good heart, but really out there. Not very
grounded, you know? He loved our church though. As everyone who visits
does, because it is true.
Seriously, lots of people we meet here have kids so young. And it's like a memory they keep from every boyfriend. It's not right. People think we're super conservative and absurd when we teach them, but I seriously don't know how they can think their lifestyle is right. Poor children.
The
following photos are me with a member here who is wonderful,
Priscila. The other two are from when I went to get Sis. Cabral in João
Pessoa. One with two other elders who were training (Elder Silva Coelho
from Brasilia and Elder Abab from Argentina) and one from the dinner at
President Hall's house that night.
That's all for this week. Love you lots.
Tchau!!
Sister Udy
