Alright!! I have some great
pictures from this week, unfortunately my camera isn't connecting to the
computer very well. I'm hoping for a miracle in the next few minutes...
otherwise no photos this week.
So big news this transfer... NOTHING CHANGED! Yeah, I guess
it's my fault for praying to accept God's will this transfer instead of
being more proactive and praying for a new companion. I already made a
goal to change my attitude though and make the most of this transfer
with her. Even if she is really different from me, apparently there is more I
have to learn from her in the next 6 weeks or some reason that we are
staying together. I'm pretty motivated to just focus on finding and
teaching and baptizing people and doing my best as a missionary because
that is what I'm here for. It's not about me, it's about the Lord.
That's my new mantra. All of my favorite missionaries were also
transferred out of our zone so that is just one more blessing of the
transfer. Including my super great district leader who I was super
certain would stay. It's fine though, he is from Chile and already told
me I can go visit him there someday so basically 6 weeks serving
together was all I needed to create a lasting friendship.
I have great news about this week though, our house was
transformed from a dumpy nightmare into a dream come true. A member came
and installed an electric shower head and fixed our toilet so it now
flushes. I am amazed and how much happier I am now that the bathroom
functions normal. I forgot how good a hot shower is. In my other areas
it was never cold, but usually around room temperature. Now I am enjoying
the pleasures of a first world lifestyle and I didn't even have to leave
this wonderful country. Funny how things work though because the day
after our house got a makeover, the people who live in the house next to
us were robbed. The robber climbed in their window while they were
sleeping. Apparently he didn't succeed in getting into our house, plus
we don't have valuables to steal, but probably we are going to have to
move to a safer place. We haven't said anything yet about the robbery
because in reality it wasn't us who were robbed and now I am actually
enjoying where we live and searching for a new place is super stressful
and something we don't have time for, but pretty soon we will have to
take care of things. Super good how God protects the missionaries
because we had already laid down to sleep the night of the robbery and
my comp. remembered to get up and lock the door. Yeah, thank you Holy
Ghost.
We had a baptism Sunday too! I know, blessings are real. Her
name is Emanueli and she is 11 and I remember the girl that mom helped
teach and how you said she was the spiritual giant of her family, that
is how Emanueli is. Best part of her baptism is that her mom came with
her to church and watched the baptism after church. Loved it, and is already
scheduled to be baptized
this Sunday!!
Seriously, it's so great to see people choosing the right. Her mom is
pretty back and forth about things, but she trusts us a ton and it is
great to see her countenance changing. Usually when we get there she
starts out by saying that she changed her mind and wants out, but then
once we start teaching about the doctrine and the Spirit comes, she
literally changes and by the end of the lesson is basically begging to
be baptized or fulfill whatever other commitment we leave with her. It's
been a really good couple of weeks teaching this family. We're still
looking for more people to teach, but at least I have some renewed
faith.
