Boa tarde!
Alright, finally got my pictures
to upload. I think my memory card got a virus or something from these
public computers. It's working better now though. I am sending pictures
of the baptisms of Emanuelli and her mom Fatima! Also, a funny picture
of our zone last transfer.

Sounds like your week was pretty regular. Mine was too. The
best part was the baptism of Fatima. She was so anxious that she tried
on the baptism clothes the day before and showed up at the church like
an hour early on Sunday. It was really wonderful to see how much she
wanted to be baptized. She had a lot of sins to wash away and really
believes in the power of the Atonement to help her start a new life. The
Relief Society in this ward is amazing too. They gave her the best
welcome at the baptism and for sure she already feels super loved and
integrated with them. It's interesting to see how the Relief Society
organization functions so much better than any other organization. In this ward the presidency is super dedicated to their callings. The other
organizations function, but the women just really take it more
seriously. Maybe it is because of personalities too, the president is
one of those women who is super organized and detail oriented and does
her best in everything she does. I am getting to know a lot of the
members here better and I really love them. It is completely different
than any other area I have been in, mostly because there are some rich
people. It is interesting how lifestyle changes how people teach the
gospel. For example,
yesterday
one of the talks was about how to teach your children well and the
woman started going off about how if you have money you should pay to
put your kids in private schools because it will help them be surrounded
by better friends and defend their values better. Didn't have much to
do with Jesus Christ, but it was an uplifting message for the most part.
Also, last night we had ward council and it lasted 2 hours. Sick joke. Good thing it was
Sunday
night and we had already finished our goals for the week or I would
have walked out early like about half of the members there. They got
some good things started though, it's just that everyone loves to talk
and give their opinion. At least this ward has ward council though. They
talked a lot about how to use Family History to help strengthen the
families in the ward. I thought of grandma because she always asks me
about if they do Family History here and sends me interesting things
about stories of Family History in Brazil. I think it will be really
good for this ward. Especially because they have lots of youth that are
really excited to help with things like indexing. One of the young men
went to the temple for the first time this weekend and took family names
and had a super good experience doing it.
It's
every one's greatest dream here to go to the Salt Lake temple someday. I
didn't realize what an icon it is for the church worldwide. More so than
any other temple.
Have a good week! Love you all!
Sister Udy
