Hello! Hello!
Cool that Chad's mission president called. I know
that the mission isn't about numbers, but success in the mission is
having wards who are excited about missionary work and when the ward is
united in missionary work God leads them to people prepared for baptism.
At least that is how I look at things. There is a huge difference when
the members help. I think I watched a video about a ward that is in
Arkansas or close by and how when they started setting goals and working
hard they augmented their ward by a lot. The ward I am
in right now is pretty stuck in their routine of just going to church on
Sundays and not doing visits during the week or anything. Yesterday
we had a training that we planned with our Ward Mission Leader (he is
incredible) and all the members were taught about how they can do more
missionary work and the bishop set a goal to have the back part of the
chapel open by the end of the year because so many people are coming to
church. I loved it. I think every missionary's dream is to hear the ward
leadership setting goals to better the missionary work in the ward.
Also, yesterday
I had an emotional day at church. All my stress sort of just built up I
guess and then I had a bad experience with an investigator that just
put me over my limit. It all ended fine though because the wife of our
wonderful ward mission leader had a nice talk with me and she said a lot
of things that really helped and she just helped me to feel loved and
like I was doing my part. Also, she said something that was a good
revelation for me. She was explaining how it is hard to work with other
people and serve them because everyone has free agency and no matter how
much we want them to make the right choices we can't force anything.
She said that God's will isn't that everyone makes the right choices,
His will is that everyone chooses for themselves. She works in the young
women's and shared about some of her difficulties helping the youth and
said that she just keeps going and working hard and serving in God's
kingdom because she knows she promised to do her best here, however she
was called to serve long before she was even born. It was everything
that I needed to hear and for sure God's way of helping me. I probably
didn't explain it well because it is hard to explain how things are in
my head when I am typing an e-mail as fast as I can, but it was great
and I am just grateful to be learning new things and changing for the
better.
So these pictures I am
sending are of the sand dunes here in Natal that are super famous, that
we went and hiked last P Day. Hiking in sand is not the best thing ever, good thing a member showed us the back path so that the majority
wasn't in the actual dunes.
It was SUPER BEAUTIFUL!!! I finally saw the
ocean!!!! Okay I had already seen it from really far away and I still
wasn't super close, but there was a look out on top that was the perfect
view.
The other picture is of my district this transfer. Please note how my skin is as dark as the Chilean that is
sitting next to me. My tan lines are getting ridiculous. Especially on
my feet, I don't think they will ever leave. Oh well, the price I pay to
serve in a beautiful tropical climate. This week was super rainy
though, not awesome. I got to use the umbrella that I've been lugging
around all mission though.
Love you all. Until next week. I think it will be Wednesday because next week is transfers!!
