Brazilians have trouble saying Udy.
Everyone knows me by Sister Oo-jee or Sister Ooj. Depends on the person.
Time is flying.
Thank goodness we're going to have transfers again this next week.
President Soares told us that we'll be receiving another set of sisters
in this area. He and Sister Soares drove around with us one day this
week looking for a new place to live. It's awful searching for a house
here. I think we finally found one that will work out though. Plus we're
really needing it because where we are living right now gets worse by
the day. This week we got new neighbors, 5 men who are here working on
building the stadium for the world cup. The first day they met us they
were already staring and trying to compliment us with kisses. I know
it's a cultural thing, but you can tell when someone has other
intentions. Also, the kitchen light exploded when I turned it on the
other night, sparks and glass flying everyone and it burned out the
power in the house. Luckily it was fixed the following day, but still no
light in the kitchen. Needless to say I am excited to move as soon as
possible.
Other news this week. My companion got a package
from her boyfriend and he included a letter asking her to marry him.
Yeah, she's engaged now I guess. It's like 5 steps backwards in her
level of focus here in the mission, but whatever, we just keep going.
I'm almost certain that I will get a new companion next transfer and
maybe even a new area, neither of which I would be sad about. It's all
about the Lord's will though, right? He knows best.
Yesterday
Joselito was baptized!!! Tender mercy of the month. He is such a good
guy. His brother Italo baptized him. It was wonderful to see. Now his
brother isn't the only member of his family in the church. Their mom was
there at the baptism too! She is a bit more hard hearted, but someday I
believe that she'll accept the gospel too. Her sons are incredible
examples. I'm sure God sent them to her to help her. Super interesting
thing I studied about this week, God puts us here on the earth in
circumstances depending on how we used our free agency in the pre-mortal
life. Also, I believe he organizes us in families according to who we
are going to be able to help reach their potential and vise verse.
This last photo is of me with a girl I met the other
day who served with Libbi Sorensen in Cuiaba!! It was such a great
moment to meet someone who knows someone I do. It's the little things
that really are helping me out to keep going and be happy.
Love you all!
Sister Udy
